Minutes of Trustees Meeting of June 18, 2015

 

Gloria Parkinson called the meeting to order at 7pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Russ Grady was absent. Our newest member, Wendy Neil, who was recently elected to the Board, was introduced and welcomed by everyone.

Next on the agenda was the reorganization of positions on the Board of Trustees.

Chairman: Gloria Parkinson — nominated by Susan Franco; 2nd by Fran Purcell. All were in agreement and the position was accepted by Gloria.

Vice Chair: Fran Purcell — nominated by Caroline Keiger; 2nd by Gloria. All agreed and Fran accepted the position.

Secretary: Susan Franco agreed to remain in this position. Nominated by Caroline and 2nd by Fran. All members in agreement.

At this time Linda Mack ( Director of Gift Planning) and Ted Lapres (Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation ) were introduced to the trustees by Gloria.

They proceeded to explain the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts. They supplied a packet to us covering the background, mission and purpose of the Fund along with investment options, distribution policies and fees associated with belonging to the Fund. The materials provided to us will be read and discussed further at a future trustee meeting.

No old business was pending at this time.

Director’s Report

  1. Budget was reviewed.
  2. A Warrant Schedule was given to each of us by Marie, along with May stats for programs, museum passes and meetings held at the library.
  3. The Books on Wheels Program is in progress and working in conjunction with the Senior Center. Our 1st patron was Dee Wuth.
  4. Upcoming events at the library were discussed. Tutoring for 4th grade math is being held at the library.
  5. The library will close for the afternoon on July 17th for staff training in Biblioboard.

The Board decided unanimously NOT to meet in July. Our next meeting will be held on August 20th at 6p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15p.m., with Caroline making the motion to do so. The motion was 2nd by Fran and agreed to by everyone.
