The Independent Reviews gave the following feedback to our submitted design:
Just a Reminder, Review the Design Documents Here
- Approach to Floor 1 circulation desk is awkward and too far from entry.
- Quiet study rooms do not appear to have adequate sightlines.
- Lack of service point near the plaza entry on Floor 2 is a concern.
- Floor 1.5 – someone could enter the Night Lobby/Cafe and be unmonitored until they went down to Floor 1 or up to Floor 2.
- Floor 1.5 Bathrooms are not visible from either circ desk.
- Dealing with a sloped site and split-level building is difficult but there are too many areas that create more work for staff as a result. Example: the Floor 1.5 book drop location requires staff to go to the split level then down the elevator to Floor 1 and then to the workroom. The Floor 1 book drop location is equally far from the work room. Perhaps the solution is (1) book drop adjacent to the workroom.
- The Floor 1 main stair adjacent to the entry lobby empties directly into the children’s room on floor 2 which could be a security concern and likewise a child could easily leave the area without being noticed by using the same stairs.
- Floor 1 and Floor 2 both have extensive south and west facing full glass windows where the sun could affect the interior use. What is the plan?
