Computers
The library has 8 desktop computers for public use on the main floor. These computers are free to use, have free access to the internet, and do not require you to sign in.
- Computer sessions are time-limited to 2 hours. Near the end of your session, you may request an extension. If no one else is waiting to use a computer, we will extend your session for another 2 hours.
- Each computer is equipped with LibreOffice.
- Our computers fully delete any data or saved files after logout. Please make sure to back up your work (save to a cloud, email, or USB drive) periodically to avoid losing any progress.
- Our computers shut down 10 minutes before closing each day.
Technology For Children
In the children’s area, we have two AWE Early Literacy Stations for kids ages 2-8 to use. These machines are not equipped for internet access, but are pre-loaded with educational software that supports learning in key areas, such as reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts and music, and reference.
We also have Play-Away Launchpads, tablet-like devices pre-loaded with educational games, and Vox Books, books with built-in audio narration. These can be borrowed with a library card.
View our children’s page to learn more about what the Youth Department offers.
Internet Access/Wi-Fi
The Bigelow Library provides free Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the building and parts of the library grounds.
Please inquire at the Main Desk or Youth Services desk for the Wi-Fi password.
If you are experiencing issues connecting to our Wi-Fi, we have an in-house-use hotspot you may check out and take to areas of the building with less internet coverage. Please inquire at the Main Desk.
Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots
A Wi-Fi hotspot is a device that allows you to connect your mobile devices (e.g. laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.) to the internet. The hotspot is portable so you can connect your device almost wherever you go. The Bigelow Library has multiple hotspots that may be checked out by Clinton residents for a two-week period.
- Must be a CLINTON resident to borrow
- Must be 18 or older to borrow
- Must have a valid CW MARS Library card in good standing
- Item must be picked up inside the Library and returned to the front desk
- This item has a 2-week loan period, no renewals
- There is a month-long “cool-down” period between borrows for each household
- Service will be disconnected if the hotspot is overdue
- Before returning to the Library, please make sure that all parts and pieces are included (Hotspot, USB cable and travel adapter, instruction booklet, storage case)
- Available on a first-come-first serve basis. Call the Library at 978-365-4160 for availability
Printing, Scanning, & Faxing
The Bigelow Library has a color printer/copier/scanner for public use. Printing can be done via a public computer or wirelessly through your mobile device. Scanning to an email or copying documents can be done directly through the machine, which is located on the main floor. These services are donation-based; pay only what you can afford or want to give.
