There will be no new library
Unfortunately, the library project did not pass either town meeting (although there was a majority) or the town election. We hope that Clinton will get another chance to apply. Please don’t let this deter you from returning to our current building!
Mythbusters: Clinton’s Library Project Edition
Myth #4 Nobody cares about this except the library people. Fortunately, that isn’t true. At the 2023 Town Meeting, residents voted en masse to approve $150k to move forward with the town’s application for a new or renovated library. Clinton’s application was approved and we have been working on the design since last summer, in partnership with
Mythbusters: Clinton’s Library Project Edition
Myth #3 If a new library doesn’t pass at Town Meeting, we can use the $11.3 Million to renovate the current library. No, we cannot. The $11.3 Million dollars the state committed to Clinton is specifically for the library design that was submitted in December, after months of consultation and years of community feedback. If the project
Mythbusters: Clinton Library Edition
Myth #2 Nobody goes to the library anymore. Not true at all. With digital sources, people get electronic services & books at the tip of their fingers, but the physical library provides a sense of exploration rather than search. We also have patrons taking meetings, using the computers, working remotely, hanging out with friends, and faxing
Mythbusters: Clinton’s Library Project Edition
Myth #1 All the library does is provide books; why do you need a bigger space? First of all, this is not at all true. Sure, we offer books, but in terms of physical items that people can take home, we also offer so much more. Over the past 10 years, borrowing from the library has

Of course cost is an issue. A new library would be AWESOME for Clinton residents and we know Clinton deserves the BEST library possible, but everyone has to commit a little bit more. With help from the assessor’s office and a municipal bonding company supplying some crucial information, we can offer an estimate of the
