8/20 Update on MPLCP project
Last night, the Architect presented to the PBC a few different site options.
- 2 rough designs for the current site, but some factors don’t change
- Neither has parking on the current site
- Upside: No cost for paving
- Main single entrance would move to Church St.; multiple exits
- Addition would be at least as big as the current building
- Would have to be bigger than other site to accommodate programmatic and regulatory needs
- Could be space for a patio/porch
- Difficulties with sight lines for current staff with three floors
- Would require the library services to move to a new space during construction
- Neither has parking on the current site
- 2 rough designs for the Chestnut St site
- 59-70 parking spaces
- Entrance in the front on the first level; entrance from the parking lot at the second level – both ADA
- Smaller building needed
- Would only need one stairway because of the two entrances/exits
- Allows for some outside programming space
- The library services would only have to move once
